Large crowds expected for Summer Fest

Chamber volunteers put finishing touches on plans

 

IMLAY CITY — The 2025 Imlay City Summer Fest will be front and center this weekend, August 8 thru 10 and organizers are putting the finishing touches on what is sure to be an action-packed weekend of fun and entertainment.

For the past several weeks, Vicki Sefcovic and Julie Chrysler have worked together along with members of the Chamber of Commerce, to put together their first three-day event. Summer Fest had been two days, Friday and Saturday, in previous years. Organizers were excited to add the third day.

“We wanted to give those who maybe couldn’t make it, for whatever reason on Friday or Saturday, a chance to come out and still enjoy the downtown area for a little bit” said Co-chairwoman Vicki Sefcovic. “There will be kids activities like the Splash Pad and Big Wheel races, a kid’s parade and a pickle eating contest.”

While the event kicks-off on Friday night at the Main Stage at 6 p.m., both Friday evening and all day Saturday, are packed with something for everyone.

“Probably the two biggest things for me are just to see smiles on the faces of everyone who comes and adding the third day of the festival,” Sefcovic said. “We’re hoping people come out and have a great time. The new parade route is exciting, too. We are expecting a lot of people downtown Saturday night for the parade.”

According to Sefcovic, she and Chrysler started working with the Chamber of Commerce in October to get plans rolling for this year’s event.

“We’ve got hundreds of hours planning and have had a lot of great support from the Chamber and volunteers” Sevcovic stated. “We are just putting on the finishing touches for what we are hoping is a great weekend in Imlay City.”

Among the highlights for Friday, the festival kick-off is set for 6 p.m. at the Main Stage while many events will take place in the area of Lamb Steele Park, by the intersection of E. Third St and Main St. Live entertainment will be on stage Friday night, prior to a fireworks show at dusk.

Saturday starts out bright and early with a pancake breakfast at the Eagle’s Lodge on Almont Ave. beginning at 8 a.m. Kids will be able to cool off at the Splash Pad before taking part in a pickle eating contest and enjoying inflatables.

A cornhole tournament and a demonstration by the Imlay City Fire Department with their Jaws of Life will both take place at noon.

The parade will step off at 6 p.m., with staging at the Imlay City Middle School. A Vegas experience will follow the parade in downtown.
