Fireworks give boom in Boom Days festival

Dryden Festival at four corners Friday and Saturday

 

DRYDEN — Fairs and festivals fill the calendar this time of year and this coming weekend is no exception.

Boom Days are making their way back to Dryden this year, with a two-day event planned for the downtown area. Boom Days will take place Friday, July 18 and Saturday, July 19.

Nearly all of the activities will be taking place downtown at the four corners in Dryden.

The St. Clair County Fair is also going on this week in Goodells, while the Eastern Michigan State Fair tops the fair bill the following week with their five-day event.

In Dryden, the festival is being hosted by the Dryden Downtown Development Authority, the Village of Dryden, Dryden Twp. and the Dryden Bar.

Rhino Dyno kicks things off on Friday. The beer tent and DJ Mike will take to the stage to entertain visitors. The beer tent is open from 3 p.m. to 12 a.m. while DJ Mike will be performing from 8 p.m. until 12 a.m.

The downtown streets will be closed on Saturday in Dryden from 5 a.m. until 2 a.m. to clear the way for festival activities all day long.

A parade in the downtown district will step off at 10 a.m. The Animal Magic Show is free to the public with shows at 10:30 a.m. and 12 noon.

Vendors will fill the streets of Dryden throughout the day Saturday for visitors to search for treasurers and inflatables for kids is free to kids all day long.

Organizers have lined up food trucks to go along with the community’s local eateries. The beer tent will once again be open for patrons, operating from 12 noon until 12 midnight.

Jim McCarty and The Mystery Train will offer music from 8:30 p.m. until 12 midnight.

A large crowd is expected later Saturday when the festival lights up the skies over Dryden with a fireworks show at dusk.
