Bunch helps team to first

Firecrackers Bunch 18U softball squad claimed a first at the All Sanction World Series in Columbus, Ohio this past week. ALMONT —Firecrackers Bunch 18U softball squad, which lists Almont’s Brooklyn Bunch on its roster, went 9-0 to win the All Sanction World Series Platinum Division title this past week in Columbus, Ohio.

The team began their tournament path Friday with a 13-1 win against Ohio Smoke and a 17-1 victory over Chaos 18U.

Saturday saw them register a 12-2 triumph against MOV Pride and obtain a 7-2 win over Athletix 18U.

The following day Firecrackers Bunch 18U notched a 4-0 victory against MI Batbusters’; a 3-2 triumph over Summit City Select; a 5-3 win against PA Texas Glory; and pick up a 5-2 victory over Ohio Emeralds.

They then squared off versus Ohio Erie Frost for first place honors. It was there they registered an 11-8 triumph.

Bunch led the team with a .519 average.

She finished with 14 hits (including four doubles and a triple) 14 runs and eight stolen bases.

Pontiac’s Jada Lopez (a .500 average and 10 hits), Novi’s Ava Domzalski (a .500 average and eight hits), Commerce’s Lauren Miller (a .500 average and .611 on base percentage), Swartz Creek’s Sophia Helm (three doubles, two home runs and 13 RBI), Troy’s Addison Cosgrove (a double, a triple and eight runs), Clarkston’s Gracie Cantley (seven runs and a home run), Clio’s Lainey Cannon (nine RBI), Macomb’s Jenna Walter (seven RBI), Davison’s Parker Gordon (13 runs and four stolen bases) supported her performance.

Rylie Greggo (New Boston), Walters (Macomb) and Cannon (Clio) shared the pitching responsibilities, each going 3-0. They allowed 13 earned runs.

A total of 55 teams competed in the tournament.
