Almont grad nets All-MAC recognition

ALMONT — Former Almont High School standout Grace Koenig finished a successful sophomore campaign with the Central Michigan University softball team recently.

Koenig wound up with a .310 average, thanks to 32 singles, 10 doubles, a triple and two home runs in 146 at bats.

She also contributed 26 runs, 26 RBIs, 20 walks and seven stolen bases to CMU’s cause.

Koenig, a third baseman, played in all 51 games for Central Michigan University.

She wrapped up the year as an All-Mid American Conference second team selection.

With her help, CMU wound up with a 26-25 overall mark. That included a 17-8 conference showing, good for third place.
