Whitney qualifies for Boston Marathon

IMLAY CITY — Three former Imlay City High School graduates went the distance at the 43rd Annual Bayshore Marathon in Traverse City recently.

The race was contested on Saturday, May 24.

Elliot Whitney paced the aforementioned trio, requiring 2:49.05 to cover the territory. That ranked him first among male 19 and under age group participants and 67th overall.

His time proved swift enough to qualify him for the 2026 Boston Marathon.

Avery Whitney supplied the next quickest clocking among the Tri-City Area contingent. He crossed the finish-line 3:55.21 after the race began en route to 55th among male 20-24 age group entrants and 783rd overall.

Grace Whitney also completed the arduous test of endurance. She needed 4:57:13 to cover the territory. That left her 118th among female 25-29 age group participants and 1,405th overall.
