Spartans, Cardinals go 1-2

TRI-CITY AREA — The Imlay City and Dryden girls’ track squads obtained a first and a second, respectively, last Friday at the Cardinal Classic in Dryden.

Imlay City won the meet with 157 points. They were followed by Dryden (134 points), Sterling Heights Parkway (59), Saginaw Arts and Sciences (54), Detroit Osborn (52), Mayville (49), Austin Catholic (21) and North Huron (19).

Payton Hintz, pole vault (6 feet) and 100 hurdles (19.64 seconds); and Morgan Robertson, shot put, 30 feet 1 inch; led Imlay City with individual event firsts.

The Imlay City 400-meter relay of Juliane Gailer, Hannah Carney, Rylee Tyack and Alex Robinson also prevailed. They were timed in 56.45 seconds.

Madison Singleton, high jump, 4 feet 4 inches; Robertson, discus, 74 feet 8 1/4 inches; Hintz, 300 hurdles, 1:00.48; Grace Sample, 800-meter run, 2:47.48; supplied Imlay City’s individual event seconds.

The Imlay City 800 (Gailer, Carney, Tyack and Robinson), 1600 Hannah Hayes, Elaina Stadelbauer, Charlotte O’Brien and Sample) and 3200 (Ang Ross, Sample, Hayes and O’Brien) relays ranked second as well. They posted respective times of 1:59.31, 4:51.54 and 11:25.62 en route.

Singleton, shot put, 25 feet 8 inches; Robinson, 100-meter dash, 13.66 seconds; O’Brien, 1600 run, 6:19.07; generated Imlay City’s thirds.

Savannah Douglas, long jump, 11 feet 7 1/4 inches; Robinson, 200 -meter dash, 29.25 seconds; O’Brien, 800 run, 2:52.03; Sample, 1600-meter run, 6:20.16; and Melanie Villeda, 3200 run, 16:00.82; managed Imlay City’s fourths.

Gailer, 200-meter dash, 29.75 seconds; added a fifth to Imlay City’s cause.

Caila Fitchett, 300 hurdles, 51.16 seconds; Claire Wright, 800 (2:43.42) and 1600-meter (6:00.17) runs; Cara Prusakiewicz, 3200 run, 12:39.4; managed Dryden’s individual event firsts.

The Dryden 800 (Keira Miller, Olivia Zellers, Karley Phillips and Fitchett) and 3200-meter Fitchett, Miller, Wright and Prusakiewicz) relays also emerged victorious. They registered clockings of 1:57.56 and 11:12.99, respectively.

Miller, long jump, 12 feet 11 inches; and Prusakiewicz, 1600-meter run, 6:10.63; furnished Dryden’s seconds.

Zellers, high jump (4 feet 2 inches) and 800 run (2:50.09); Fitchett, 200-meter dash, 28.34 seconds; Makayla Mater, 300 hurdles, 1:02.954; and Wright, 3200-meter run,13:22.2; collected Dryden’s individual event thirds.

The Dryden 400 (Elaina Yatros, Jalynn Delmotte, Miller and Zellers) and 1600 (Mallory Barker, Miller, Phillips and Prusakiewicz) wound up third as well. They were timed in 1:01.37 and 4:52.09, respectively.

Barker, long jump, 11 feet 7 inches; Mikayla Fleming, shot put, 24 feet 6 inches; tacked on fifths to Dryden’s cause.
