Imlay City, Dryden go 2-3 at meet

Imlay City’s Will Cilk looks to fend off Dryden’s Sean Finnigan and Dylan Lasher in the 800 run at the Cardinal Classic.

TRI-CITY AREA — The Imlay City and Dryden boys’ track squads pulled up second and third, respectively, last Friday at the Cardinal Classic in Dryden.

Cass City won the meet with 182.5 points. They were followed by Imlay City (149 points), Dryden (125.5), Mayville (77.50), North Huron (30.5), Detroit Osborn and Sterling Heights Parkway Christian (17 each) , Austin Catholic (16) along with Saginaw Arts and Sciences (eight).

Eli Garcia, high jump, 5 feet 6 inches Jovani Pena, long jump, 17 feet 5 1/2 inches; Jerry Zheng, shot put, 42 feet 6 inches; Brett Lestage, 200 dash, 23.24 seconds; Enrique Cardenas, 400-meter dash, 52.33 seconds; provided Imlay City with firsts.

Lestage, 100 dash, 11.23 seconds; and Will Cilk, 800-meter run, 2:23.08; supplied Imlay City’s individual event seconds.

The Imlay City 400 (Juan Salcedo, Alan Valdovinos, Lestage and Cardenas) and 800 (Lestage, Cardenas, Salcedo and Valdovinos) relays were second as well. They registered respective times of 45.95 seconds and 1:39.26 en route.

Garcia, long jump, 16 feet 9 1/2 inches; and Zheng, discus, 106 feet 5 inches; managed Imlay City’s individual event thirds.

The Imlay City 3200-meter relay of Isaac Sommer, Sebastian Hoult, Liam Bhatti and Cilk wound up third as well. It took them 9:41.11 to accomplish the feat.

Hoult, 3200 run, 12:12.88; collected the lone Imlay City individual event fourth.

The Imlay City 1600-meter relay of Brady Homer, Cardenas, Pena and Salcedo placed fourth as well. They were timed in 4:03.89.

Garcia. 110 hurdles, 21.92 seconds; Challas Eads, 300-meter hurdles, 55.23 seconds; and Homer, 400 dash, 58.08 seconds; added fifths to Imlay City’s cause.

Brenden Peter, 110-meter hurdles, (16.86 seconds); Logan Romain, 1600 (5:03.51) and 3200 (11:03.76) runs; furnished Dryden’s individual event firsts.

Levi Fitchett, 1600 (5:04.95) and 3200-meter (11:21.17) runs; supplied Dryden’s individual event seconds.

The Dryden 3200 relay of Dylan Lasher, Sean Finnigan, Romain and Fitchett pulled up second as well. They were timed in 9:17.26 en route.

Lasher, high jump (5 feet) and 800-meter run (2:25.32); and Santiago Perales, 100 dash, (11.74 seconds); contributed Dryden’s individual event thirds.

The Dryden 1600-meter relay of Tyler Roberts, Jayden Stankevich, Peter and Lasher wound up third as well. They managed a 3:59.86 clocking en route.

Roberts, 110 (21.72 seconds) and 300 (49.22 seconds) hurdles; Perales, 200 dash, (24.18 seconds); Finnigan, 400-meter dash (57.11 seconds) and 800 (2:28.22) run; picked up Dryden’s individual event fourths.

The Dryden 400 (Michael Stickler, Thamo Trieglaff, Stankevich and Perales) and 800-meter (Trenton Carroll, Stickler, Stankevich and Perales) relays pulled up fourth as well. They were timed in 48.68 seconds and 1:44.12, respectively.

Stankevich, 200-meter dash, (25.05 seconds); tacked on a fifth to Dryden’s cause.
