Spartans start year at SVSU

IMLAY CITY — The Imlay City boys’ track squad claimed 12 top-50 efforts at the SVSU Division 1 and 2 Invitational last Wednesday.

No team scores were kept at the meet.

The 1200-meter relay of Alan Valdovinos, Jovani Pena, Brett Lestage and Enrique Cardenas led Imlay City with an 18th. They were timed in 2:35.3.

Jerry Zheng, shot put, 41 feet 5 inches; supplied Imlay City with a 19th.

Lestage gave Imlay City a 21st with a 60 dash time of 7.41 seconds and equaled that showing with a 200-meter dash clocking of 23.82 seconds.

Cardenas, 400 dash, 53.93 seconds, 25th; Eli Garcia, high jump, 5 feet 6 inches; a 2400-meter relay consisting of Brady Homer, Isaac Sommer, Wade Murray and Sebastian Hoult, 7:02.2, 28th; Sommer, 800-meter run, 2:12.87, 29th; Pena, long jump, 17 feet 7 inches, 31st, Grant Capling, long jump, 16 feet 8 inches, 42nd; Valdovinos, 60 dash, 7.61 seconds; and Jaydin Hall, shot put, 34 feet 9 inches. 47th; added top-50 performances to Imlay City’s cause.
