Boettcher places twice in GLIAC

TRI-CITY AREA — Former Dryden standout Erin Boettcher registered a pair of place-winning performances for the Davenport University women’s track team at the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Indoor Championships recently.

Saginaw Valley State University hosted the meet which was contested March 1-2.

Grand Valley State University topped the standings with 256 points. They were followed by Wayne State (88 points), Saginaw Valley State (82), Northern Michigan (70), Parkside (68.5), Davenport (45), Ferris State (27.5), Purdue Northwest (20) and Lake Superior State.

Boettcher, a senior, took third in the 400-meter dash with a school record-setting performance of 56.0 seconds.

She also joined forces with Lacy Hess, Julia Tuuri and Soleil Moore to obtain a third pitted against 1600 relay foes. They managed a 3:49.7 clocking en route.

Gracie Klink, a graduate of Capac High School, competed for Wayne State University at the GLIAC Indoor Championships.

The sophomore obtained an 11th-place finish among high jump entrants, thanks to a clearance of 4 feet 9 inches.

Sydney Kapushinski, an Imlay City graduate, represented Lake Superior State University at the meet.

Kapushinski, a senior, fared best in the 1600 relay where she combined with Haley Howe, Madison Morgan and Sofia Salazar for a ninth. They were timed in at 4:16.4.

Kapushinski also wound up 22nd among 800-meter run entrants. She was timed in at 2:27.05.
