Spartans defeat Raiders, 58-30

TRI-CITY AREA — Imlay City netted a 58-30 road win against Almont in a Blue Water Area Conference varsity boys’ basketball contest last Friday night.

With the result, Imlay City improves to 14-6 and 9-2. Almont falls to 4-10 and 2-7.

In Friday’s contest, Imlay City opened up a 12-8 edge after one quarter was complete and widened the gap to 27-15 at halftime.

Imlay City then outscored Almont 31-15 the rest of the way, assuring themselves of a 58-30 win at night’s end.

Matt Evans and Landon Jones (14 each) along with Zander Nash (12, featuring a trey) led Imlay City with double figure point outputs. They were backed by Isaac Sommer (five points), Hudson Everhart and Andrew Cezik (four each), Jack Siegler (a triple) along with Sam Edson (two).

Owen Rayl (seven points) paced Almont that evening. The Raiders also received points courtesy of Chase Davedowski and Blake Lane (five, including a trifecta apiece), Jason Lane (four), Brody Corneau (a trey), Aiden DeSano (two) plus Logan Schapman and Tristan Mayer (one each).
