Spartans seventh, Raiders eighth

TRI-CITY AREA — The Imlay City and Almont wrestling teams pulled up seventh and eighth, respectively, at the BWAC Championships.

Armada High School is where the tournament was contested.

Algonac (238 points) topped the team standings. They were followed by Yale (228 points), North Branch (167.5), Armada (121), Cros-Lex (111), Richmond (105),
Imlay City (104) and Almont (17).

Tanner Land and Christopher Galiana led Imlay City with firsts that day. Land reached the title bout at 126 pounds where he earned a 6-2 win against Algonac’s Chris Campbell and Galiana ended his 132-pound championship run with a 9-5 victory over North Branch’s Christian Rodriguez.

Kaden Powers provided Imlay City with a second. Powers made the title bout at 175 pounds where he was pinned by North Branch’s Martin Knight with 3:16 gone.

Brady Czapiewski and Ethan Everhart added fourths to Imlay City’s cause. Czapiewski concluded 150-pound action when he was pinned by Yale’s Levi Frazer with 1:37 gone and Everhart finished his run at 157 pounds when he was pinned by Richmond’s Aiden Bergeon with 56 seconds elapsed.

Josiah Clark paced Almont that day, registering a third. Clark completed 138-pound action with a 15-10 triumph against Cros-Lex foe Nikolas Krcaj.
