Capac shares fourth at BTC Tourney

CAPAC — The Capac wrestling team amassed 118.5 points, good for a tie for fourth with Vassar last Saturday at the Big Thumb Conference Championship.

Brown City High School is where the action took place.

Caro (213 points) won the team title. They were followed by Memphis (168 points), Cass City (120), Capac and Vassar (118.5 each), Millington (110), Marlette (77.5), Sandusky (68), Brown City (59.5), Mayville (31), Elkton-Pigeon BayPort (23), Ubly (20), Bad Axe (14) and Akron-Fairgrove (seven).

Ryan Grant and Sam Schneider led Capac with firsts. Grant wrapped up the 120-pound title with a 17-1 win against Caro’s Aiden McIntosh and Schneider ended an unbeaten run at 126 pounds with a 10-4 victory over Vassar’s Cole Nickerson.

Tyler McKenney gave Capac a second. McKenney reached the 113-pound title match where he lost by forfeit to Brown City’s Aedyn Pasco.

Alberto Chapa and Zachary Stroup collected thirds for Capac. Chapa closed out action at 126 pounds when he he pinned Caro’s Ezekiel Martens with 4:36 elapsed and Stroup ended 157-pound action when he pinned Caro’s Devin Wilson with 2:36 gone.

Connor Powers rounded out the list of Capac placewinners with a fourth. Powers finished his stint at 190 pounds when he was pinned by Caro’s Colton Pugh with 1:40 elapsed.
