Imlay City goes 1-1, Almont 0-2

TRI-CITY AREA — The Imlay City and Almont wrestling teams went 1-1 and 0-2, respectively, in Blue Water Area Conference action last Friday.

Imlay City started things off with a 60-18 win against Almont.

Gavin Smith and Ethan Everhart led Imlay City with victories by pin. The former took 20 seconds to down Caleb Mayer at 138 pounds and the latter needed 1:23 to beat 157-pound foe Nathan Bruce.

Caleb McLain (113), Morgan Santaella (120), Tanner Land (126), Christopher Galiana (132), Kaden Powers (175), Alex Pettke (190), Parker Bull (215) and Jaydin Hall (285) added triumphs by void to Imlay City’s cause.

A group consisting of Josiah Clark, Micah Kozak and Luke Longley registered Almont’s wins. Clark required 54 seconds to pin Caleb Siracki at 144 pounds; Kozak took 2:15 to best 150-pound counterpart Logan Russell; and Longley needed 1:58 to turn back Scott Isaacson at 165 pounds.

Imlay City also faced Richmond that evening. Their battle drew to a close with Richmond ahead 55-23.

Land gave Imlay City a win by pinfall, stopping Matthaus Schade with 55 seconds elapsed at 126 pounds.

McLain (113) and Hall (285) provided Imlay City with victories by void.

Galiana tacked on a triumph by technical fall to Imlay City’s cause, handing Cooper Honnold a 21-5 setback at 132 pounds.

In the night’s other dual encounter, Cros-Lex made Almont absorb a 77-5 loss.

Clark secured the lone Almont win. He triumphed 19-4 over Nikolas Krcaj at 144 pounds.

With the results, Imlay City moves to 1-5 versus BWAC rivals. Almont slips to 0-6 as far as BWAC clashes are concerned.
