Imlay nets victory over Almont

TRI-CITY AREA — Imlay City came out on top of a 55-33 verdict over visiting Almont in a Blue Water Area Conference varsity boys’ basketball matchup last Friday night.
With the result, Imlay City goes to 6-4 and 4-1. Almont falls to 2-7 and 1-4.
In Friday’s matchup, Almont grabbed a 10-4 advantage after one quarter was over.
Quarter two saw Imlay City bounce back with a 14-7 edge, leaving themselves up by a narrow 18-17 count at the halftime break.
When the action resumed, Imlay City padded their cushion some. Thanks to a 21-9 third quarter advantage, the Spartans widened the gap to 39-26.
Imlay City then outscored Almont 16-7 from that point on, closing out a 55-33 win.
Matt Evans (11 points, including a pair of trifectas) led Imlay City. The Spartans also had Isaac Sommer (nine, points, featuring three treys), Zander Nash (nine), Jack Siegler (eight, with a pair of triples), Sam Edson (seven, including a trifecta), Landon Jones (six), Brady Detwiler (four) and Jalen Gauthier (one) reach the scoring column.
Jason Lane (seven points) proved Almont’s toughest player to stop. He was backed by Chase Davedowski (five points, including a trifecta), Owen Rayl (five), Blake Lane (four), Aiden DeSano (four, featuring a trey), Brody Corneau (four) along with Spencer Kent and Tristan Mayer (two each).
