Ovid-Elsie defeats Imlay City, 50-46

IMLAY CITY — Imlay City was handed a 50-46 setback by Ovid-Elsie in a non-league varsity boys’ basketball matchup last Friday afternoon.

Spring Arbor University is where the action unfolded.

With the outcome, Ovid-Elsie improves their mark to 6-2 overall, Imlay City slips to 5-3 this season.

In Friday’s matchup, Ovid-Elsie opened up a 14-10 edge after one quarter was over.

Quarter two saw Imlay City manage 16 points and Ovid-Elsie generate 13, closing the gap to 27-26 at the halftime break.

When the action resumed, Ovid-Elsie padded their cushion some. Aided by a 16-10 third quarter advantage, they went ahead 43-36 with 24 minutes gone.

Ovid-Elsie then withstood a 10-7 fourth quarter rally, leaving the floor with a 50-46 win to their credit.

Zander Nash paced Imlay City with 18 points. The Spartans also received points courtesy of Andrew Cezik (eight points), Matt Evans (seven), Isaac Sommer and Landon Jones (four each), Jack Siegler (three) and Sam Edson (two).
