Grondin Basketball Classic nears

DRYDEN — The Dryden Paul Grondin Basketball Classic takes place this Thursday and Friday.
Dryden varsity boys’ coach John DelCampo is excited that the tournament is named for Paul Grondin.
“It is well deserved that we name our tournament after him,” DelCampo commented. “Paul is one of the leading scorers in Dryden basketball history,” he noted.
“Plus he has also been a great supporter of of many events not only in Dryden but the entire area.”
Grondin was humbled by the tournament.
“Dryden basketball has run through my veins for over 65 years,” Grondin commented. “No one has shot more hoops in the Dryden gyms, especially bankers, than I have,” he noted.
For the second year in a row, the girls will also be participating.
“Our girls are excited to be taking part in the Paul Grondin tournament,” Dryden Coach Marcus Leija commented. “It is great for all schools involved because it will highlight their whole basketball program,”he noted.
“It will also be a great way to start the winter break.”
DelCamo says the goal was to have one of the top holiday tournaments around.
“I believe we accomplished it with the four teams we have participating.” DelCampo commented.
The boys’ field will include Capac, Webberville, Dryden and Bentley, while the girls’ field will feature Caseville, Webberville, Bentley and Dryden.
