Almont outlasts Dryden, 47-45

TRI-CITY AREA — Almont outlasted visiting Dryden, 47-45, in a non-league boys’ basketball meeting last Friday night.

With the result, Almont improves to 1-2 overall. Dryden slips to 1-1 this season.

In Friday’s meeting, Almont jumped out to a 20-6 advantage after one quarter had ended.

The middle two quarters saw Dryden amass 28 total points and Almont manage 12. That staked them to a 34-32 edge with 24 minutes gone.

Almont then put together a 15-11 fourth quarter rally, pulling out a 47-45 victory.

Owen Rayl netted 18 points and Sean O’Neil generated 14 to lead Almont. They were backed by Aiden DeSanto (five points, including a trifecta), Chase Davedowski and Jason Lane (four each) along with Brody Corneau (two).

Sonny Coscione (15, featuring a pair of treys) Gianni Coscione (13, with a pair of triples) and Hayden Blair (12, including four trifectas) posted Dryden’s top point totals. The Cardinals also had Brady Schneider (a trey) and Luke Taylor (two) reach the scoring column.
