Dryden starts year with a win, 48-37

DRYDEN — Dryden handed visiting Brown City a 48-37 setback in a non-league varsity boys’ basketball confrontation last Wednesday night.

It was the season-opener for both combatants.

In Wednesday’s confrontation, Dryden took a 7-6 edge after one quarter was over with.

They then followed it up with a 17-2 second quarter advantage, widening the gap to 24-8 at the halftime break.

When the action resumed, Brown City bounced back with a 14-9 third quarter edge. That enabled them to trim their deficit to 33-22 with 24 minutes elapsed.

Both sides hit for 15 points apiece the rest of the way, leaving Dryden ahead 48-37 when the final buzzer sounded.

Gianni Coscione (17) and Sonny Coscione (11) provided the top Dryden point totals. They were backed by David Insley (nine points), Luke Taylor (five), Brady Schneider (four) and Drew Raymond (two).
