Imlay City earns statewide honors

IMLAY CITY — Imlay City placed four of its players on Michigan High School Soccer Coaches Association Division 3 All-State lineup which was announced recently.

Sebastian Salcedo headlined the list of Imlay City honorees, earrning All-State first team accolades.

Salcedo, a senior midfielder, provided Imlay City with eight goals and a school record-setting output of 26 assists this past fall.

Nery Gaspar Vega was a Division 3 All-State second team pick. The senior midfielder finished the season with 11 goals and 12 assists.

Diego DeLuca joined them on the list, attaining Division 3 All-State honorable mention status. The senior forward collected 23 goals and five assists en route.

Zander Nash, a senior defender, was a Division 3 All-State honorable mention pick as well. He stood out on an Imlay City squad which allowed just two goals in league play.

Nash finished the season with two goals and two assists.
