Few races to be determined for local school and township boards

Five file for two seats on Almont school board

Early voting for the November 5 election began October 26 and runs through the day before the election, November 4.

TRI-CITY AREA — In the Tri-City Times coverage area, there is just one school district that has a race for candidates wishing to serve on the school board.

In the Almont Community School district, five candidates are running for two open positions on the board.

There are two candidates, Justin Burns and Russell Buero, that have filed for one six-year term on the school board.

Three candidates, Andy Roosa, David Amstutz and Katie Rotarius, are running for a seat on the board that is a partial term that expires December 31, 2026

Meanwhile, in the Dryden Community School district, there are 2 positions open on the board, each spanning six years and one partial term that expires on December 31, 2028.

Only Lawrence P. Czapiewski filed for the six-year term, so he will automatically be seated on the board, along with lone candidate Paulette Wright for the partial term.

There are two, six-year terms open on the Imlay City Community Schools ballot and just two candidates.

Longtime board member Sharon Muir is seeking one of the positions, as is Greg Dennis.

North Branch Area Schools has only two candidates for two, six-year seats open on the school board. Andrew Hebberd and Jason Cullin will take their place at the board table January 1 of 2025.

The township candidate list is much like the school board list, with few being opposed.
