Imlay City overpowered by Armada

IMLAY CITY — Imlay City completed the Blue Water Area Conference portion of their schedule with a 63-7 road setback versus Armada last Friday night.

With the outcome, Armada improves to 7-1 and 6-1. Imlay City slips to 1-7 and 1-6.

In Friday’s game, Imlay City fell behind 35-0 after one quarter and trailed 56-0 at the half.

The third quarter would prove scoreless.

Both sides managed seven points during the last quarter of play, leaving Armada with a 63-7 win at night’s end.

Imlay City generated their seven-point total aided by a Matt Evans to Travis Tramontana 88-yard touchdown pass (followed by a successful extra point kick courtesy of Andrew Cezik).

Evans (three of 12 for 88 yards and two interceptions), Cezik (one of one for nine yards) and Brady Homer (zero of one) were the Imlay City performers who opted to air out the football.

Their successful tosses went to two different targets. Tramontana (three catches for 97 yards) and Cezik (one reception for zero yards) formed that group.

The Imlay City ground attack wound up with 26 yards on 29 totes.

Tramontana (14 rushes for 20 yards) posted the top Imlay City output. The remaining 15 Spartan totes netted a combined six-yard gain.

A group consisting of Tramontana (six) along with Tanner Land and Evans (four each) contributed Imlay City’s highest tackle totals.

Imlay City wraps up their regular season this Friday when it hosts Flint Southwestern Academy. That contest begins at 7 p.m.
