Almont places 14th at golf state finals

ALMONT — The Almont girls’ golf team registered a 14th-place finish at the Division 4 state finals this past week.

Forest Akers West Golf Course, in East Lansing, is where the tournament took place.

Kalamazoo Christian won the team title with a 732 output. They were followed by Grand Rapids Northpointe Christian and Brooklyn Columbia Central (748 each), Lansing Catholic (750), Ann Arbor Greenhills (774), Montague (784), Traverse City St. Francis (825), Sandusky (830), Bath (832), Charlevoix (842), Monroe St. Mary Catholic Central and North Muskegon (851 apiece), Harbor Springs (855), Almont (862), Concord (881), East Jackson (921), Jackson Lumen Christi (948) and Mount Pleasant Sacred Heart (972).

Olivia Kotelnicki led Almont with a 197 total. Kotelnicki shot an opening round 100 and a second round of 97.

Tara Tencza (216) posted the next best Almont output. She started things off with a 116 and managed a final round 100.

Noelle Bourdeau provided Almont with a 219 total. Bourdeau opened with a 101 and posted a round two score of 118.

Rachael Johnson contributed a 236 output over 36 holes. Her effort featured an opening round of 117 and a closing round 119.

Eva Rayl and Karis Steinbrink also represented Almont at the Division 4 state finals. Rayl managed an opening round 121 and Steinbrink chipped in a second round of 113.
