Imlay City falls 46-12 at Cros-Lex

IMLAY CITY — Imlay City wound up with a 46-12 loss to host Cros-Lex in a Blue Water Area Conference varsity football meeting last Friday night.
With the decision, Cros-Lex goes to 5-2 and 4-2. Imlay City slips to 1-6 and 1-5.
In Friday’s meeting, Imlay City spotted Cros-Lex a 22-0 advantage after one quarter was over with and trailed 46-0 at the half.
That was followed by scoreless third quarter.
Imlay City then put together a 12-0 fourth quarter rally, only to drop a 46-12 outcome.
The visiting Imlay City side generated their 12-point total aided by a Brady Homer four-yard touchdown run; and a Matt Evans 26-yard touchdown run.
For the evening, Evans completed four of 12 pass plays for 46 yards as Imlay City’s quarterback. He threw one interception along the way.
Homer was the other Imlay City performer who opted to air out the football. His lone attempt fell incomplete.
Imlay City’s accurate tosses went to three different targets. Their ranks consisted of Travis Bush (two receptions for nine yards), Andrew Cezik (one catch for 22 yards), Edward Dervishi (one reception for 15 yards).
The Imlay City ground attack managed 212 yards on 35 totes.
Homer (11 rushes for 128 yards) and Evans (54 yards on nine totes) proved Imlay City’s toughest players to stop. The remaining 15 Spartan rushes netted a combined 30-yard gain.
Evans (eight) plus Homer and Cezik (six each) supplied the top Imlay City tackle outputs. Travis Tramontana added five stops to the Spartan’s cause.
The Imlay City defense also registered one takeaway. Evans (an interception) furnished that.
Imlay City returns to action this Friday when it travels to Armada. The BWAC matchup is slated to begin at 7 p.m.
