Capac rolls past Memphis, 44-8

CAPAC — Capac picked up a 44-8 victory over visiting Memphis in a Big Thumb Conference Blue Division varsity football game last Friday night.

With the result, Capac improves to 4-3 and 3-3. Memphis falls to 0-7 and 0-6.

“Our offensive line played well and opened things up for our backfield to have big games,” Capac co-coach Troy Schneider commented. “Three wins in a row gives us good momentum going into a tough game versus Deckerville.” he noted.

In Friday’s game, Capac jumped out to an 8-0 advantage after one quarter was over with.

The middle two quarters saw Capac generate 36 total points and Memphis manage eight, staking themselves to a 44-8 cushion with 36 minutes gone.

Quarter four would prove scoreless.

The winning Capac side amassed their -point total aided by an Alan Uribe-Arce nine-yard touchdown run (followed by a PAT pass from Brody Tesnow to Uribe-Arce); a Sam Schneider 33-yard touchdown run; a Schneider two-yard touchdown run (followed by a PAT pass from Uribe-Arce to Wiley Roose); a Tesnow to Boston Vock 29-yard touchdown pass (followed by a PAT pass from Uribe-Arce to Brian Canelo-Rodriguez); an 11-yard touchdown pass from Uribe-Arce to Brenden Bussone (followed by a PAT tote from Schneider); and a 67-yard touchdown run by Schneider.

For the night, Tesnow (four of eight for 42 yards and no interceptions) and Uribe-Arce (two of two for 21 yards and no interceptions) shared the quarterback assignment for Capac.

Their completions went to five different targets. Vock (two catches for 31 yards), Bussone (one catch for 11 yards), Roose and Uribe-Arce (one reception for 10 yards each) along with Gabe Peters (one catch for one yard) formed that group.

The Capac ground attack managed 413 yards on 25 totes.

Individually, Schneider (14 rushes for 255 yards) and Peters (103 yards on four totes) put up Capac’s best numbers. The remaining seven Chief totes netted a combined 45-yard gain.

Zack Stroup (six solos and six assists) and Jacob Clowers (five solos and four assists) posted Capac’s highest tackle outputs. Uribe-Arce and Schneider (two solos and five assists apiece) along with Peters (one solo and four assists) made their presence felt as well.

Capac returns to action this Friday when they entertain Big Thumb Conference Blue Division leader Deckerville (7-0, 6-0). The matchup lists a 7 p.m. starting time.
