Almont is second in regional play

The Almont girls’ team took second at Monday’s regional in Mount Pleasant. They are Noelle Bourdeau, Tara Tencza, Karis Steinbrink, Olivia Kotelnicki, Eva Rayl and Rachael Johnson.

ALMONT — The Almont girls’ golf squad claimed a second-place finish Monday at a Division 4 regional.

Mount Pleasant Country Club is where the tournament was contested.

Sandusky (419), Almont (440) and Mt. Pleasant Sacred Heart (442) held down the top-three spots at Monday’s tournament.

They advance to the Division 4 state finals this Friday and Saturday at Forest Akers West Golf Course in East Lansing.

Ten other schools participated at the regional tournament. Their ranks consisted of Ithaca (442), Cass City (445), Laingsburg (491), Chesaning (507), Breckenridge (509), Saginaw Valley Lutheran (509), St. Louis (520). New Lothrop (526), Caro (530) and Saginaw Nouvel (602).

Olivia Kotelnicki led Almont with a 103 over 18 holes. The Raiders also counted Noelle Bourdeau’s 106, Tara Tencza’s 115 and Rachael Johnson’s 116.
