Imlay second at Spartan Cup

IMLAY CITY — The Imlay City boys’ soccer team posted a 2-1 mark, leaving them second at the Spartan Cup it hosted last Saturday.

Imlay City opened tournament play with a 2-0 win against Brandon.

Xavier Galeana (assisted by Sebastian Salcedo) and Zander Nash (set up by Salcedo) collected Imlay City’s goals.

Max Galiana drew the goalkeeping assignment for Imlay City. He registered eight saves.

Imlay City then moved to 2-0, thanks to a 2-1 shooutout victory over Frankenmuth.

Benino Barragan (assisted by Christopher Galeana) furnished the lone Imlay City goal during regulation play.

Galiana handled the goalkeeping chores for Imlay City again. He wound up with seven saves.

Imlay City then concluded tournament play with a 2-0 loss to Berkley.

Galiana drew the goalkeeping assigment for Imlay City there. He finished with eight saves.

With the outcome, Imlay City stands at 6-2 overall.
