Goldstein, Bone are recognized

ALMONT — Almont’s Manny Goldstein earned a spot on the Michigan Interscholastic Golf Coaches Association Division 3 All-State lineup which was announced recently.
He provided Almont with a 40.7 average per nine-hole round this spring. That left him second on the Almont team and third among Tri-City Times All-Area first team honorees.
The senior claimed second medalist honors with a 74 at the Holly Meadows Golf Course-based Blue Water Area Conference League Tournament in Capac; furnished a 75 en route to a ninth at the Orange Theory Tournament hosted by Hudson Mills Golf Course; posted a 78 for second at a Division 3 regional hosted by Washtenaw Golf Club in Ypsilanti; supplied a 79 en route to a seventh at the Timberwood Golf Course-based Evans Gill Tournament; furnished a 81 for fifth at the Charger Invite; plus managed an 83 en route to a fourth 42nd at the Highest Honor Tournament hosted by Huron Meadows Golf Course.
He also chipped in a 167 over 36 holes, featuring an opening round 87 and a closing round 80, en route 26th during the Division 3 state finals at Katke Golf Course in Big Rapids.
This was his fourth season on the Almont squad for Goldstein, an All-Blue Water Area Conference first team selection.

Almont Coach Mark Bone was recognized by the Michigan Interscholastic Golf Coaches Association as well. He was named a recipient of Division 3 Regional Coach of the Year accolades.
Bone directed Almont to a first at the Blue Water Area Conference League Tournament; a two-way tie for a second during a Division 3 regional hosted by Ypsilanti’s Washtenaw Golf Club; a fifth at the Timberwood Golf Course-based Evans Gill Tournament; and a two-way tie for 11th at the Division 3 state finals hosted by Katke Golf Course in Big Rapids.
