Raiders win boys’ track meet

TRI-CITY AREA — The Almont boys’ track squad (102 points) outscored Bad Axe (88),  Cass City (72), Mayville (63), Marlette (59), Harbor Beach (56), Vassar (51), Laker (49), Brown City (47), Memphis (33), Unionville Sebewaing (23), Dryden (14), Sandusky (six) and Capac (zero) en route to a first-place showing last Friday at the Marlette Invitational.

Chase Battani led Almont with three firsts that day. He won the pole vault (13 feet), 100 dash (11.62 seconds) and 110-meter hurdles (16.48 seconds).

Matthew Bacholzky, 400 dash, 54.91 seconds; notched Almont’s other individual event win.

The Almont 1600-meter relay of Colton Grzyb, Cole Walton, Nolan Maxlow and Bacholzky wound up first as well. They were timed in 3:44.17.

Braedon Carlson, shot put, 41 feet 9 3/4 inches; gave Almont a second.

The 800 relay of Tim Miller, Walton, Maxlow and Bacholzky pulled up second as well. They registered a 1:36 clocking en route.

Maxlow, high jump, 5 feet 8 inches; Brody Corneau, 110-meter hurdles, 18.13 seconds; and Battani, 300 hurdles, 44.77 seconds; contributed Almont’s thirds.

William Larkin, pole vault, 10 feet 6 inches; and Courneau, 300-meter hurdles, 47.02 seconds; furnished Almont’s fifths.

Bacholzky, long jump, 18 feet 9 inches; and Maxlow, 400 dash, 56.21 seconds; generated Almont’s sixths.

Grzyb, 800-meter run, 2:20.03; provided Almont with an individual event seventh.

The Almont 3200 relay of Jacob Biolchini, Adam SaintOnge, Gavin Campbell and Grzyb added a seventh as well. They were timed in 9:47.19.

Aiden Fitchett, 3200 run, 10:38.62; paced Dryden with a third.

The Dryden 3200-meter relay of Aiden Fitchett, Dylan Lasher, Sean Finnigan and Connor Wolff wound up fifth with a 9:30.86 clocking.

Matthew Hickmott, 300 hurdles, 49.36 seconds; gave Dryden a sixth.

Dryden also received an eighth courtesy of Michael Hickmott, discus, 101 feet 10 1/2 inches.
