Cardinals slip past North Huron, 44-42

Dryden’s Olivia Reynolds looks to complete a fastbreak in Monday’s matchup versus North Huron.

DRYDEN — Dryden edged visiting North Huron, 44-42, in a North Central Thumb League Stars Division varsity girls’ basketball battle Monday night.

With the outcome, Dryden improves to 13-6 and 5-2. North Huron falls to 9-8 and 2-6.

In Monday’s battle, Dryden spotted North Huron a 12-7 advantage after one quarter was over with and trailed 22- 16 at the halftime break.

When the action resumed, Dryden struck with a 16-12 third quarter edge. That made it a 34-32, North Huron, with 24 minutes gone.

Dryden then outscored North Huron 12-8 the rest of the way. pulling out a 44-42 victory.

Olivia Reynolds and Dakota Deel led Dryden with 12 points apiece. The Cardinals also had Keira Miller (10 points), Sophia Peter (four) along with Delaney Wolle and Kierstyn Stankevich (three each) reach the scoring column.
