Almont falls by two to Richmond

ALMONT — Almont put up a good fight, only to drop a 52-50 verdict to visiting Richmond in a Blue Water Area Conference varsity boys’ basketball matchup last Friday night.

In Friday’s matchup, Richmond jumped out to a 17-10 advantage after one quarter was over with and led 25-20 at the halftime break.

When the action resumed, Almont struck with a 12-10 third quarter edge. That closed the gap to 35-32 with 24 minutes gone.

Almont followed it up with an 18-17 fourth quarter advantage, only to fall 52-50 at night’s end.

Chase Davedowski (12 points, including three trifectas) and Jason Lane (11, featuring a trey) proved Almont’s top offensive threats. They were backed by Jerry Schurig (nine points, with three triples), Marko Radisavljevic (eight), Cam Bourdeau and Cole Walton (a trifecta each) along with Manny Goldstein and Isaiah Bankston (two apiece).
