Capac drops battle to Ubly, 61-48

CAPAC — Capac dropped a 61-48 decision versus visiting Ubly in a Greater Thumb Conference varsity boys’ basketball battle last Friday night.

In Friday’s battle, Capac bolted out to a 18-9 advantage after one quarter was complete.

Ubly then countered with an 18-10 second quarter edge, closing the gap to 28-27 at the halftime break.

When play resumed, Ubly struck with a 21-13 third quarter advantage. That enabled them to go ahead 48-41 with 24 minutes gone.

Ubly then outscored Capac 13-7 from that point on, good for a 61-48 victory when the close zeroed out for the last time.

Nolan Maday paced Capac with 10 points, including a pair of trifectas. The Chiefs also had Carlos Uribe-Arce (nine points, featuring a trey), Wyatt Hurley (eight), Alan Uribe-Arce (seven), Wiley Roose (four), Adam Schaefer (a triple) along with Austin Howard (three) reach the scoring column.
