Spartans fall to Cros-Lex, 54-48

IMLAY CITY — Imlay City wound up six points short when the final scores were added up, dropping a 54-48 outcome to visiting Cros-Lex in a Blue Water Area Conference varsity boys’ basketball clash last Thursday night.

With the outcome, Imlay City slips to 8-3 this season and 2-1 as far as BWAC matchups are concerned.

In Thursday’s clash, Cros-Lex grabbed a 12-11 edge after one quarter was over with.

They then followed it up with a 10-9 second quarter advantage, increasing their lead to 22-20 at the halftime break.

When the action resumed, Cros-Lex managed 17 third quarter points as did Imlay City. That left them up 39-37 with 24 minutes elapsed.

Cros-Lex then outscored Imlay City 15-11 the rest of the way, assuring themselves of a 54-48 win at night’s end. For Imlay City, Zander Nash (17 points, including a pair of trifectas) and Isaac Sommer (13, featuring a trey) proved their toughest players to stop. They were backed by Matt Evans and Landon Jones (seven points each) along with Jack Siegler and Quintin Ramirez (two apiece).
