Dryden picks up a win over Capac

TRI-CITY AREA — Dryden handed Capac’s varsity boys’ basketball team a 60-42 setback in a semifinal round matchup last Friday at the Paul Grondin Basketball Classic it hosted.

With the outcome, Dryden moves to 1-3 overall. Capac falls to 1-4 this season.

In Friday’s matchup, Dryden bolted out to a 20-4 advantage after one quarter was done.

The middle two quarters saw Dryden continue to pull away. Aided by a 32-22 edge there, the Cardinals increased their cushion to 52-26 with 24 minutes gone.

Capac then put together a 16-8 fourth quarter rally, only to fall 60-42 at night’s end.

Jacob Burgess (16, including three trifectas), Dylan Ledford (16) and Dorian Lewis (12, featuring a pair of treys) paced Dryden with double digit point totals. The Cardinals also had Sonny Coscione (five points), Noah Slagle (four), Joey Delmotte (three) plus Jaylin Taylor and Hayden Blair (two each) reach the scoring column.

Nolan Maday led Capac with 13 points. The Chiefs also received points courtesy of Alan Uribe Arce (nine points, with three triples), Wyatt Hurley (nine), Wiley Roose (seven) and Conner Clark (four).
