Imlay City nets second at Birch Run

IMLAY CITY — The Imlay City varsity volleyball team claimed a second-place finish at the Birch Run Tournament last Saturday.

Imlay City started things off with a 25-10, 25-12 pool play win against Ovid-Elsie. They then picked up a 25-18, 25-17 victory over Goodrich and halved a 15-25, 25-19 verdict with Valley Lutheran.

That left them first in their pool, earning a bid to the Gold Division quarterfinals. It was there Imlay City registered a 25-21, 25-17 triumph against Goodrich.

Imlay City followed that up with a 25-14, 25-22 semifinal win over Birch Run (eighth rated in Division 2).

They then met North Branch (top-ranked in Division 2) for tournament honors next.

When the final point hit the floor, North Branch had obtained a 25-9, 25-18 victory.

That left Imlay City with a second-place finish to show for their efforts.
