Spartans win SC4 Tourney

IMLAY CITY — The Imlay City girls’ basketball team claimed a first-place finish June 20-22 at the St. Clair County Community College Tournament.

The team started things off Monday, June 20 with a 26-5 win against Brown City; a 32-17 victory over Lapeer; and a 36-25 triumph against St. Clair.

They then followed it up with a 36-25 win over Anchor Bay; a 37-24 victory against Fraser; and a 39-16 triumph over Corunna on Tuesday, June 21.

Those outcomes earned Imlay City a bye to a Wednesday, June 22 semifinal clash versus St. Clair. That battle drew to a close with Imlay City up by a 32-15 count.

Imlay City then squared off versus Anchor Bay for tournament honors next.

When the clock zeroed out for the final time, Imlay City had prevailed 49-25.

Dakota Deel, Alyssa Evans, Brie Hund, Lily Lengemann, Lexa Forti, Chloe Bruman, Makayla Bruman, Addison Cameron and Alexa  Lengemann made Imlay City’s top finish possible.
