Whitney sees action for EMU tennis

IMLAY CITY — The Eastern Michigan University women’s tennis team, which lists former Imlay City standout Grace Whitney on its roster, netted a pair of wins on Sunday, March 27.

Perrysburg, Ohio and Lucas County is where the matches were contested.

EMU started things off with a 4-3 victory over Mid American Conference foe Bowling Green State University.

There redshirt seniors Luisa Pelayo (Porto, Portugal) and Whitney dropped a close verdict to Bowling Green State University’s Maru Poppe and Annika Vetter.

When the final score was posted, Pelayo and Whitney fell by a 4-6 count.

Eastern Michigan University also faced non-league counterpart Lourdes University that day, registering a 4-0 triumph.

Whitney did not see any action in that match.

With the results, EMU now stands at 11-11 overall and 1-2 as far as Mid American Conference clashes are concerned.
