Almont holds off Chippewa Valley, 32-26

ALMONT — Almont obtained a 32-26 win against visiting Chippewa Valley in a non-league girls’ basketball encounter on Tuesday, February 22.

With the final, Almont improves to 7-12. Chippewa Valley slips to 3-16.

In Tuesday’s encounter, Almont bolted out to a 13-2 advantage after one quarter was done and widened the gap to 20-5 at the half.

When the action resumed,  Chippewa Valley bounced back with an 11-5 third quarter edge. That trimmed their deficit to 25-16 with 24 minutes gone.

Almont then withstood a 10-7 fourth quarter rally, closing out a 32-26 victory.

Grace Koenig (10 points, including a trifecta) paced Almont’s scoring attack. The Raiders also had Kendall Roszczewski (eight points, featuring a trey), Grace Johnson (seven, with a pair of triples), Lizzy Brandt (four) and Lydia LaCavera (three).
