Harper to take skills to SC4

IMLAY CITY — Joe Harper, a 2020 graduate of Imlay City High School, made a verbal commitment to join the St. Clair County Community College wrestling program recently.

He is coming off an outstanding senior season which saw him go 49-2, a 96.1 percent success rate, while collecting 35 pins.

Harper earned the distinction of weight class champion at the Caro Tournament, Mayville-based Ryan Mercer Tournament, Imlay City Tournament, Imlay City-based Blue Water Area Conference Tournament, Division 2 regionals hosted by Fenton High School and a Gaylord-based Division 2 regional; plus furnished a second (claiming All-State accolades) at the Division 2 state finals contested at Ford Field.

He wrapped up his high school career with over 150 victories and 100 triumphs by pin.

Harper, a four-year veteran on Imlay City’s squad, also earned a spot on the Tri-City Times All-Area wrestling squad his senior year.
