Almont defeats Brandon twice

ALMONT — The Almont varsity baseball team went 2-0 in a non-league doubleheader with visiting Brandon last Thursday.

In the opener, Almont notched a 5-0 victory over Brandon.

 

Landon Kruse, Blake Cody, Donovan Galovich, Brenden Haldeman and Charlie Koenig led Almont with a single each.
Nolan Idyle was Almont’s pitcher of record. He allowed three hits over seven innings, struck out two and walked two.

In the second game, Almont registered a 12-4 triumph against Brandon.

There Almont bolted out to an 11-3 advantage after one inning was done and never looked back.

Brandon Hunsaker (two singles and a double), Tyler Fillinger (a single and a double), Trenton Kruse (a double) plus Mathew Dwyer, Cody Koval and Kylar Fisher (a single apiece) accounted for Almont’s basehits.

Galovich and Kruse shared the pitching responsibilities for Almont. They allowed eight total hits, retired six on strikes and walked two.
