Dryden hands C-PS a 46-16 defeat

DRYDEN — The Dryden varsity girls’ basketball squad rolled past visiting Carsonville-Port Sanilac in a North Central Thumb League contest Monday night.

It was the season-opener for both schools.

In Monday’s contest, Dryden jumped out to a 12-5 advantage after one quarter was complete.

Not content with that cushion, Dryden followed it up with a 14-0 second quarter edge. That left them holding a 26-5 lead at the halftime break.

When play resumed, Carsonville-Port Sanilac struck with a 7-6 third quarter advantage. That trimmed their deficit to 32-12 at the time.

Dryden then outscored Carsonville-Port Sanilac 14-4 from that point on, closing out a 46-16 win.

Ella Kage (12) and Natalie Embree (10) led Dryden with double digit point outputs. Miya Wolff and Olivia Miller (six points each), Alexis Schuhrke and Lola Abromaitis (four apiece) plus Riley Knox and Rilynn Lindsay (two each) supported their performances.

Knox (six) along with Knox and Wolff (five apiece) supplied Dryden’s highest rebound totals.

Dryden also received eight steals and six assists from Kage.
