Outrage 16U are tourney champs

 

TRI-CITY AREA — Outrage’s 16U softball team claimed a first-place finish at the FAAST Summer Showdown Southeast Michigan Tournament.

Play was contested Saturday at Memorial Park in Royal Oak and Sunday at Hickory Glen Park in Commerce Township.

The squad opened tournament action with an 8-0 setback to MI Recon 15U.

Later that day, Outrage’s 16U softball team evened their tournament mark at 1-1 with an 8-0 win against Interlace Pride.

Avery Wolters (Marysville) provided the offensive highlight for the winning squad, belting a home run.

Olivia Malcolm was their pitcher of record. She threw a one-hitter.

The following day saw Outrage prevail again.

Facing the Oakland Cobras, Outrage secured a 9-1 victory.

Lindsey McGann (Sterling Heights), sparked their offensive attack with a home run.

The team followed it up with an 11-1 win over MI Recon 16U.

They then met MI Recon 15U for tournament honors next.

In a rematch of their tournament opener, Outrage avenged the setback by a score of 12-7.

Katie Witkowski (Shelby Township) provided the game’s offensive highlight for Outrage’s 16U team, connecting on a three-run homer.

They were joined on the championship team by Kendall Roszczewski (Attica), Elly
Schapman (Almont), Alaina Nofar (Troy), Jasmine Girlish (North Branch), Nicole Mazur (Bruce Township), Peyton Shepherd (North Branch) and Makayla Pasternak (North Branch). They were directed to the title by Joe Marrone with assistance from Tom Witkowski, Pat McGann and Lexi Anderson.
