Lapeer Community Theater production this weekend

LAPEER — Just in time for Halloween, Lapeer Community Theatre invites audiences to enter a world of shadows, suspense and supernatural terror with “Dracula,” Steven Dietz’s adaptation of Bram Stoker’s iconic vampire story.

The production will run Friday, Oct. 30, and Saturday, Oct. 31, at 7:30 p.m. at the PIX Theatre, 194 W. Nepessing St., in downtown Lapeer.

As Count Dracula extends his sinister influence over London, a determined group of individuals race to uncover the truth behind a series of disturbing events before they become his next victims. Blending horror, mystery and gothic atmosphere, Dietz’s adaptation brings new theatrical life to a story that has captivated audiences for generations.

The production features a 12-member cast of local performers: Kim Mruzek, Christian Dresen, Danielle Himebauch, Eric Johnston, Newt Shaw, Scott Joseph, Randy Elliott, Ayden Bishop, Alissa Bach, Deanna Brownfield, Jen Whitis and Eric Easterday.

“We’re excited to bring this classic story to Lapeer for Halloween weekend,” said director Riley Kruer. “There’s something uniquely exciting about experiencing a story like ‘Dracula’ live onstage, where the suspense and atmosphere unfold right in front of you.”

Tickets are available at a discounted rate for seniors 60 and older, veterans, active military personnel and students. Credit card fees may apply, and tickets purchased at the door cost $2 more. Tickets are available at centerfortheartslapeer.org or by calling the PIX Theatre box office at 810-664-4824.

“Dracula” is presented by arrangement with Concord Theatricals on behalf of Dramatists Play Service.
