Strong turnout for Blueberry Festival

Perfect weather shines on second annual event

IMLAY CITY — Hours of dedication and hard work by many volunteers came to fruition last month when downtown Imlay City came alive for the second annual Blueberry Festival.

The event was filled with everything blueberry, from specialty drinks to ice cream to specially designed food and treats.

A large number of vendors filled Main St. downtown, from S. Almont Ave. to Third St. with a variety of inflatable entertainment for the younger ones, to axe throwing, corn hole, a dog show and bull riding and of course, who could miss out on the taco eating contest.

Spirited competition was held in two age brackets, youth up to 12 years old and another for those 12 and up, including adults.

Later in the day, a number of businesses had musical entertainment and other activities as visitors enjoyed the one-day event.

Organizers say proceeds from the event, like last year’s, are given to the school to help students in the coming school year.
