Almont fifth, Imlay City seventh at meet
TRI-CITY AREA — The Almont and Imlay City boys’ cross country teams took fifth and seventh, respectively, at a Blue Water Area Conference Jamboree Meet hosted by Cros-Lex on Tuesday, Sept. 29.
Yale won the meet with 45 points. They were followed by Lutheran North (75 points), North Branch (90), Cros-Lex (98), Almont (104), Armada (125) and Imlay City (154). Richmond also competed, but did not field a complete squad.
Colton Grzyb, eighth, 18:08.3; led Almont that day. He was backed by Benjamin Kline, 13th, 18:35.6; Jamin Siewert, 24th, 19:33.5; Johnny Roland, 31st, 20:01.7; and Sid Davis, 42nd. 20:47.1.
Liam Bhatti, 11th, 18:29.1; paced Imlay City. He was backed by Mason Russell, 14th, 18:42.4; Jared Pratt, 51st, 21:46; Preston Schreur, 60th, 22:55.5; and Deegan Weiler, 66th, 24:45.1.
In the girls’ portion of the meet, Lutheran North (34 points) earned the team title. Armada (53 points), Yale (60), Cros-Lex (66), Richmond (162) and North Branch (164) followed. Almont and Imlay City also competed, but did not field complete squads.
Taylor Stanczak, 10th, 21:57.8; Melina Campbell, 29th, 25:05.1; Shannon Zangara, 34th, 25:46.8; and Giuliana Maier, 38th, 26:09.43; competed for Almont.
Kendal Donahue, 23rd, 24:26.2; Paityn Edson, 45th, 27:04.1; and Sofia Maldonado, 58th, 30:25.7; represented Imlay City that day.
