Heritage Festival takes center stage in Almont
ALMONT — Organizers with the annual Almont Heritage Festival are putting their finishing touches on what is sure to be a busy weekend Sept. 18-20.
DDA Executive Director Angela Edwards and an army of volunteers are making certain 2026 will be another year to remember when all is said and done.
For the past several years, while many events are held and well attended during the three-day weekend event, the Classic Car Show, known as Almont on the Avenue, has grown tremendously over the years and now draws well over 300 classic beauties that line Main Street.
The festival kicks-off Friday with a smattering of events, including food vendors located on East Mill Street from 5 p.m. until midnight. The refreshment tent will be humming with two performers scheduled. Spindle45 will take the stage at 5 p.m. followed by Sunset Boulevard at 8 p.m. The refreshment tent will be open for business from 5 p.m. until midnight.
Saturday events begin bright and early with a pancake breakfast at the first Congregational Church from 8-11 a.m. Opening ceremonies will be held at the four corners in downtown Almont with the playing of the National Anthem and the car show gets underway at 9 a.m. Visitors will be able to visit vendors lined up on East Mill Street and take advantage of great deals at the sidewalk sale and other business specials.
Kids attending the festival will have a great time when they visit the Kids Zone at the Congregational Church on East St. Clair Street. A wide variety of activities, including carnival games, balloon animals, a petting zoo and Sparkles the Clown will keep them busy from 11 a.m. until 3 p.m.
A cornhole tournament will swing into action at 2 p.m. at the refreshment tent. Food vendors will be back in place from 5 p.m. until midnight and two more performances, by Glen Brooke (5 p.m.) and Kevin Wolf (8 p.m.) will keep the crowds in good spirits. Sunday, runners of all ages will line up at the starting line at 9 a.m. for the annual 1-mile fun run and a 5K and 10K race.
