ICS Performing Arts announces expanded 2026-7 season

IMLAY CITY — Imlay City Schools Performing Arts has announced its upcoming 2026-7 season, featuring six theatrical productions and the annual ICS Fine Arts Collaborative Holiday Spectacular.

The new lineup kicks off following record-setting interest in auditions for the high school’s fall musical. The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee. More than 70 students tried out for the show, prompting the creative team to double cast the lead roles and expand the performance schedule.

“With more than 70 students auditioning, we were faced with the wonderful challenge of having far more talented performers than a single cast could accommodate,” said Rebekah Brewer, Imlay City Schools Performing Arts coordinator and director of the production. “Double casting the show allows more students to take on significant roles, grow as performers, and experience the responsibility of carrying a full production.”

The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee will run Nov. 5-7 at the Imlay City High School Performing Arts Center, with added performances on Thursday evening and Saturday afternoon to accommodate both casts.

The full 2026-7 performance schedule includes:

• 10 Ways to Survive the Zombie Apocalypse: Oct. 22
• The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee: Nov. 5-7
• Almost, Maine: Nov. 20-21
• ICS Fine Arts Collaborative Holiday Spectacular: Late fall 2026
• Mamma Mia!: March 11-13
• Romeo and Juliet: April 29-May 3
• Mean Girls JR.: May 28-29

To support the expanded slate, ICSPA is offering two discounted season-pass packages available at ICFineArts.Ludus.com. A full season pass offers a 20 percent discount on all seven shows and early seat selection through Oct. 22. A musical theatre pass offers a 10 percent discount for the four musical events and remains available through Nov. 7.

The organization is also seeking community and business sponsors for the upcoming season. Sponsorship packages range from $50 to $500, with proceeds funding student leadership camps, participation in the Michigan Thespian Festival, and senior scholarships.
