Helzer, Klink headed on to states

CAPAC — The Capac girls’ wrestling team advanced two competitors to the individual state finals set for February 28-March 1 at Detroit’s Ford Field.

They earned the right to compete on the strength of top-four weight class showings last Saturday at a regional hosted by Howell High School.

Cierra Helzer led Capac with a third. She closed out her stint at 110 pounds when she pinned Oxford’s Celine Frank with 3:17 elapsed.

Ava Klink supplied Capac’s other placewinning performance, claiming a fourth. Klink wrapped up 155 pound action when she pinned Lansing’s Sexton’s Ayan Kelley with 43 seconds elapsed.
