We predict a bright and Happy New Year!
As the old year 2024 draws to a close, people have a tendency to look back at the year to measure their personal successes, a sort of self-evaluation.
At the same time they look forward with eager anticipation to the new year, 2025.
We too are excited and hopeful for the new year! We hope for a strong economy and low unemployment. We hope the great political divide will deminish a little so we can step forward to make our world a better place to live and work. We look forward to see if our readers can enjoy some good times, some laughter and personal success.
This newspaper also takes this time to measure our own successes and shortcomings. Times have changed fast for us…it’s a different world with many different ways to get and receive news. We won’t waste our time hoping the old-days will return for newspapers, they won’t. Instead, we will continue to do what we have done for decades, the best we can to bring you a good community newspaper.
We painfully understand and feel the changes in newspapering today. We don’t like it much, but we understand. The way we have done business has changed. These are challenging times for all newspapers, some of those are self inflected, others just the explosion of the digital technology. Some staff members have moved on to pursue other interests and we have replaced a few.
Our status as the primary source of local news is something of which we are proud. It’s no secret the Tri-City Times is recognized as the most popular local weekly paper in the area. We make your news, our news. Your child’s success stories in the classroom, on the field or on the court is what we like to share.
After 44 years of publishing the hometown newspaper for residents in Lapeer and St. Clair counties we are confident in our news gathering abilities and advertising expertise. We pledge to do just that for as long as we can and work to be a constructive force in our communities.
So here’s to continued success and good health to our readers, advertisers and other supporters.
We predict it will be a bright and happy New Year.
