Community meal to support volunteer firefighters

GOODLAND TWP. — The Goodland Township Fire Department is inviting community members to its upcoming “Good Food and Fire Prevention” barbecue dinner on Saturday, Oct. 3.

The event will run from 3-7 p.m., or until food runs out, at the fire station located at 2374 N. Van Dyke Road in Imlay City. Both dine-in and takeout options will be available.

For a nominal donation, attendees will receive a meal featuring a pulled pork sandwich, macaroni and cheese, coleslaw, baked beans and barbecue sauce. Proceeds directly support the volunteer department’s operations and ongoing local service.

“Our volunteer firefighters are our neighbors, people who give their time and step forward when others need help,” said Goodland Township Fire Chief Brian Kinzer. “This dinner is a simple way to show our appreciation, support their work, and spend time together as a community.”

Organizers encourage residents to bring family and friends out for the afternoon to support the department’s efforts in protecting local homes and businesses.
